What is COWORKING anyway? If you are working alone and miss bouncing ideas to someone from time to time, or find yourself responding to emails in your pajamas, or making trips to your fridge every 30 minutes, and if you think those are problems, then coworking may be a good fit for you. Or if you are a small group of people who are looking for an affordable alternative to an expensive office space committment without sacrificing a professional look, then establishing a base within a cowork space may be a viable option.
Okay, we don't mean to overly fantasize the idea BUT, it is actually pretty practical and neat to work independently, together! Because coworking is all about: 1. providing a structure in your workday. 2. securing a space where you can get in the "zone". 3. being independent and fully in charge yourself/selves. 4. having a sense of belonging to your favorite coworking community. It's up to you to decide how much or how little you want to participate in the community and it is wonderful that no one is evaluating you. To give you a flavor of coworking, here is what goes on at Studio Crossings. R and T are constantly joking around while D is in and out of the conversation at his own pace. J is quiet but always willing to help out the younger entrepreneurs when they face obstacles. TJ is always on the phone and the studio manager makes sure that everyone is happy. Some work for companies, others own their businesses. Some are just starting up, others have been around for a long time. Some work standing up, others work at desks and lounges. Some come late and stay late, others are early birds. Oh! one more very important aspect of coworking: BUSINESS CONNECTIONS are always criss crossing at Studio Crossings. Bartering is also a wonderful aspect! |
